GLP-1 Support
Starting GLP-1 Support with us.
GLP-1 Support is an add-on to your perimenopause/menopause membership — for members who want medically supervised weight management alongside their hormone care. Here's exactly what's required, what to expect, and how the ongoing monitoring works.
Step-by-step to get started
Complete these in order. The program doesn't start, and nothing gets scheduled, until your provider has reviewed your questionnaire and confirmed you're eligible.
Two different forms — here's the difference
They're easy to mix up, so here's each one side by side.
Weekly Weigh-In
- What it is: Just your weight — nothing else
- How often: Every week, no exceptions
- Time it takes: About 15 seconds
- Why: Weekly self-weighers are 11x more likely to hit 5% weight loss at 6 months
GLP-1 Check-In
- What it is: Side effects, protein, strength training, concerns
- How often: Every 4 weeks during titration, quarterly after your checkpoint
- Time it takes: A few minutes
- Why: The deeper review that shapes dose decisions and your checkpoint
Neither one is for urgent symptoms — message us directly for anything that can't wait, per the emergency guidance below.
Why this beats a visit-heavy program
You get more eyes on your progress, not fewer.
A typical GLP-1 program books you 8–10 appointments in the first year and leaves you guessing in between them. Ours flips that: instead of your care being limited to a handful of scheduled minutes, you're checked in on every time you log a symptom or send a message — which means side effects get caught earlier, dose questions get answered faster, and nothing has to wait for an opening on the calendar. Your efficacy checkpoint is still there for the one decision that genuinely needs a real conversation. Everything else is faster than a visit, not a downgrade from one.
What GLP-1 Support includes
A separate add-on from your membership — $75/month through your efficacy checkpoint, $50/month after — scoped like this:
Included
- Initial treatment visit
- Dose titration management
- Ongoing access to your care team between visits (symptom tracker + secure messaging) — no appointment needed to be seen
- Your required efficacy checkpoint (3 months after your dose stabilizes) — after this, your monthly cost drops from $75 to $50
- Quarterly monitoring after that
- Bone and muscle protection guidance alongside your dosing
Not included
- The medication itself — billed separately through the manufacturer's self-pay program
- The cost of labs — we order what's clinically indicated, but the lab bill itself is separate, same as your medication
- Visits beyond your required efficacy checkpoint, unless side effects or your response call for one
Why this is different from a weight-loss-only program
We're already managing your hormones — this doesn't happen in isolation.
Perimenopause and menopause come with muscle and bone loss that GLP-1 medications can make worse if weight comes off the wrong way. That's why your GLP-1 Check-In form asks about your protein intake (about 1.2–1.3g per kg of body weight per day) and strength training every time — not just at your visits. If either one drops off, that's a signal for us to reach out, not something that just sits in a form unread.
What the first several months actually look like
Titration takes longer than 3 months for most people — this is the honest version, not the compressed one.
The dotted segment is intentional — titration length isn't the same for everyone, so your checkpoint is timed from your stable dose, not a fixed calendar date.
Questions people usually ask
What if my questionnaire shows I'm not eligible?
Your provider will tell you why and talk through other options — GLP-1 therapy isn't right for everyone, and safety comes first. Nothing is charged or scheduled until eligibility is confirmed.
Why does the price change, and when?
The titration phase is the most involved — dose increases, side-effect management, closer monitoring — and that's what the $75/month covers. It's not tied to a fixed calendar date, though: it drops to $50/month starting the billing cycle after your efficacy checkpoint, which happens 3 months after your dose stabilizes, not 3 months after you start. Since titration itself usually takes 4–5 months, most people see the drop around month 7–8.
Does the add-on cost cover my medication?
No. The $75 (or $50, once you're past your efficacy checkpoint) covers your visits, dose management, and ongoing monitoring. The medication itself is billed separately through the manufacturer's self-pay program.
Do I have to pay to find out if I'm eligible?
No. Your eligibility evaluation is included in your current membership. The $75/month only begins if you actually start treatment.
Will you adjust my blood pressure or blood sugar medications as I lose weight?
No — that's not something we manage as part of GLP-1 Support. As weight comes down, medications like these often need adjusting, so please keep your PCP or prescribing doctor in the loop as your treatment progresses.
What if my weight loss feels too fast, not too slow?
Tell us at your next check-in — rapid weight loss gets a closer look just like slow progress does. Losing too fast can mean muscle loss or other issues worth catching early, not just something to be happy about.
Are labs included?
We order what's clinically indicated — baseline labs before you start, and follow-up labs if your response calls for them — but the lab cost itself is billed separately, the same as your medication.
Can I do my initial visit in person?
Yes — video is included in your monthly add-on cost, and in-person is available for an additional $50 if you'd rather come in.
What happens if I don't lose enough weight by my checkpoint?
Your provider will review your response at your stable dose and talk through the options together — that can mean adjusting your dose, addressing barriers, or considering a different approach. It doesn't mean the program ends.
Why isn't my checkpoint at exactly 3 months?
Because most people aren't done titrating by then. Dose increases happen roughly every 4 weeks, and reaching a stable dose typically takes 4–5 months — in real-world practice, only about 20–25% of semaglutide patients ever reach the highest labeled dose, and most people find their effective dose somewhere below it. Checking your response before you've actually leveled off wouldn't tell us much, so we wait until 3 months after your dose is stable instead of counting from day one.
I'm already on estrogen or testosterone with TMC — does that affect this?
Your questionnaire asks about your current hormone therapy so your provider can look at your full picture together, not manage GLP-1 in isolation from your hormone care.
What if I miss a weekly weigh-in or a Check-In?
Message us — missing one isn't a strike against you. Just pick back up: log your weight whenever you catch it, and complete your next Check-In on its regular schedule (every 4 weeks during titration, quarterly after your checkpoint). Consistency over time is what matters, not a perfect streak.
Can I cancel GLP-1 Support without canceling my membership?
Yes — GLP-1 Support is a separate add-on. Since this is a billing/administrative change rather than a clinical one, email info@menopauselouisiana.com to make the change.
GLP-1 therapy is not appropriate for everyone, and eligibility is determined by your provider after a medical assessment. If you're experiencing severe or persistent abdominal pain, vision changes, or other signs of a medical emergency, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 right away — don't wait to hear back from us. Message us afterward so we can follow up. Questions about the program that aren't urgent? Message us through the portal.
GLP-1 Support does not include adjusting your blood pressure, blood sugar, or other non-GLP-1 medications — please keep your primary care provider updated as your treatment progresses so they can make any needed changes. You must be physically located in the state of Louisiana for all interactions with The Menopause Clinic, including messaging, telehealth visits, and check-ins.
