Having trouble finding your estradiol? Here's every option available to you.
Some patients have noticed difficulty getting certain hormone medications lately, while others haven't had any trouble at all — especially those using local, independent pharmacies. We don't have direct insight into any specific pharmacy's stock at a given moment, but we want to make this as easy as possible for you. Below are your available options.
Last updated August 25, 2026 · Pharmacy availability changes month to monthIf your pharmacy is out, here's what to do
A simple order of operations — most people find what they need in the first step or two.
-
Look into local, independent pharmacies near you
These are often better stocked than chain pharmacies right now.
For example, A-1 Pharmacy (Metairie) and Castellon Pharmacy (New Orleans) have had no difficulty.
-
Not able to find it locally? Try a delivery pharmacy
If you're not able to find estradiol at a local pharmacy near you, or at a delivery pharmacy like Amazon, The HRT Club is another option. It's a membership pharmacy service that ships FDA-approved estradiol directly to your door — no insurance needed. See the full section below.
Amazon Pharmacy delivers and accepts insurance.
-
Still no luck? Consider changing formulations
A compounded version may be easier to access, or your provider can help you weigh switching formulations (e.g., patch to gel). Dosing isn't always a direct 1:1 conversion, so check in with us first.
Take a look at every estradiol option, side by side, then message your provider in the portal and let her know which one you're interested in — we can give you more information.

A-1 Pharmacy — Metairie
Typically the most affordable option. Cash price around $40 for many FDA-approved formulations, though insurance can also be used. Has not had stock issues.
Castellon Pharmacy — New Orleans
Has not had stock issues.
Cost Plus Drugs (Mark Cuban)
Cash-pay delivery option. Has had recent stock issues — worth checking, but not guaranteed to have what you need right now.
Any local, independent pharmacy
Independent pharmacies near you are generally a good first call — they're not tied to the same supply chains as large chains.
The HRT Club
A membership-based pharmacy service offering FDA-approved bioidentical estradiol (patch, gel, oral, injectable) shipped directly to your door.
- Cash-pay — no insurance required to order
- You can submit your receipt to your insurance for possible reimbursement
- Membership: $12/month or $99/year
- Savings of up to 90% off cash price on many medications
FDA-approved vs. compounded — what's the difference?
You'll see both listed for some formulations below. Here's what each means.
FDA-approved
Manufactured by pharmaceutical companies and tested by the FDA for safety, quality, and consistent dosing before they can be sold.
Compounded
Custom-made by a compounding pharmacy, often to create a specific dose, combination, or delivery method not otherwise available. Compounding pharmacies are licensed and regulated by state pharmacy boards, and many follow additional quality standards (such as PCAB accreditation). They offer more flexibility in dosing and formulation than FDA-approved products.
Every estradiol option, side by side
Not all formulations may be available to everyone, based on your medical history. Your provider can help determine which options are appropriate for you.
