What's going on?
First: check your prescription label
This one thing decides your next step in almost every situation on this page.
- Refills remaining? The new pharmacy can transfer it for you. No need to contact us.
- 0 refills? Use our refill request form instead.
- Testosterone? Transfer rules are different — use the refill request form, or message us.
Refill count is printed right on your pill bottle or box label. Calling the new pharmacy directly is usually faster than asking us to issue a duplicate prescription.
Price, stock, ordering, transfers
Handled directly with the pharmacy — call them, or transfer your prescription per the rule above. We don't have visibility into pharmacy stock, so this part has to happen on your end.
Need a different medication, dose, or form
This is where we step in. Message us through the portal if you need a different medication, dose, or formulation.

IF your medication price is higher than expected… Cost
- Ask the pharmacy for the cash price — even if you planned to use insurance, it's sometimes lower.
- Still high? Check our recommended pharmacies below and compare.
- Apply the refill rule above to move your prescription.
IF your medication is out of stock… Stock
Decide first: stay on the same form of the medication (just find it elsewhere), or are you open to switching forms (e.g. patch → gel)?
Staying on this form → try another pharmacy
- Ask your current pharmacy if they can order it, and by when.
- Too slow? Call around — in our patients' experience, local independent pharmacies have often been more consistent with hormone medication stock than large chain pharmacies. Start with our recommended pharmacies below.
- Found stock? If you still have refills, ask the pharmacy that has it in stock to transfer the prescription — that's exactly what a transfer is for. You don't need to contact us.

- Read the care guide for the alternative form — e.g. on the patch? Read the gel guide, and vice versa — in our education library.
- If it looks like a fit, send us a portal message so your provider can confirm and send the new prescription.

IF the pharmacy says it's backordered… Backorder
- Confirm whether they can order it and the expected timeline.
- If you find stock elsewhere, apply the refill rule above: transfer it if you have refills, or use the refill request form if you don't.
- If waiting isn't an option and nothing's in stock locally, message us — that's a clinical issue and we can discuss another option.
IF you want to switch pharmacies proactively… Save
A different pharmacy may be significantly cheaper even when your current one has stock. Apply the refill rule above:
- Have refills? Ask the new pharmacy to transfer your prescription. They move with it — no need to contact us.
- Out of refills (or a new pharmacy with nothing on file)? Submit a refill request and we'll send it.
- Testosterone has different transfer rules — message us or submit a refill request and we'll handle the switch.
